Different methods are required by different versions of PowerPoint.
Do you want to format the appearance of the embedded YouTube video?
If so, you need to use the embed code method (only available in PowerPoint 2010 and 2013), which allows you to select or de-select the top and bottom bands of the YouTube video.
Will you have an internet connection available for video playback?
Most of the methods do not allow the video to be played offline.
Do you want the YouTube video’s entire playlist on your slide?
If so, you need to navigate to your video through the YouTube channel’s playlist. However, inserting a playlist isn’t available in PowerPoint 2007.

Insert an online YouTube video
PowerPoint 2010 onwards a built-in tool is included to insert a YouTube video onto a slide.
Within the PowerPoint presentation, select the slide you want to add the YouTube video in. Navigate the Insert tab, click on it. On the far right side, open the video dropdown and select online video.
A dialogue box will open up, type the name of YouTube video in the Search YouTube box and press enter or click on the magnifying glass.
Choose the video from the search results and hit insert.
A rectangular video is added to the slide. You can move and adjust the size of the video as you like. On double clicking the YouTube video you can load the video in the PowerPoint itself and see what it looks like.Or you can also go to YouTube directly and insert the preferred video by copying the URL link from the address bar and pasting it on the search YouTube box.

Insert a video from hard drive
Open your presentation and select the slide. Move to the insert tab and select video.
Choose ‘Movie from File’ option (on mac) or video on my pc and select a video from your hard drive by double clicking on it
You can format the video to start ‘Automatically’ or ‘When Clicked’.
You can adjust the size of the video by dragging its position.

Insert using the YouTube embed code
This method can also be used to insert other online videos into your presentations.
Navigate on YouTube your preferred video that you want to insert
Below the video frame, click Share → Embed
A new window will pop up with an embed code and several embed options consisting of various formatting options where you can change when the video starts playing, choose to show or hide the player controls, and enable or disable privacy-enhanced mode. Once you’ve chosen your options, select and copy the entire embed code at the top.
Go to your PowerPoint presentation, and select the slide to add the video.
the insert tab, click video → online videoA new window will open up, paste the embed code into the From a Video Embed Code box and then hit insert or press enter on your keyboard.
You can make further adjustments and resize the video whichever way you like.
You can preview the video by right-clicking on it and select Preview.

Link to an online YouTube video
Insert a picture into your PPT slide. You can select a picture that you already have by going to the insert tab, clicking on pictures option and selecting the picture that you want or take a screen shot of the video by pressing the PrtScrn button on your keyboard (Ctrl + Shift + 4 on Mac) when you have decided the frame you want to use and pasting the image by right clicking.
Next, right click on the image that you have added, press on the arrow next to the Link option, and select Insert Link.
Copy the URL of your video on YouTube.
Go to PowerPoint, paste your video’s URL into the Address field at the bottom of the Insert Hyperlink window and click OK.
You have now linked your Image to the online video on YouTube. Your browser will open youtube.com and play the video from there.

Installing the developer tab
In PowerPoint, at the upper left corner click on the Microsoft Office option
A drop-down box will open, select PowerPoint Options.
Select the Show Developer tab in the ribbon, in the Popular category and click OK.You will be able to see a developer tab in your ribbon.
Click on Developer tab and choose ‘More Controls’
In the dialogue box, find and select Shockwave ActiveX Control and click Ok.
Next, draw a rectangle on your PPT slide for your YouTube video. Make sure to draw it on a blank side of your slide.
Locate your desired YouTube video and copy its URL link from the address bar.
Go back to PowerPoint, right-click the ActiveX Object and select Properties.
A properties dialogue box will pop up, scroll down to the Movie section and paste the copied URL link.
